The Depression hits America and causes a wide variation in fashion. On the high end, Hollywood glamour rules the day. Think Jean Harlow and slinky gold lame' dresses. For the average American, however, day dresses are simple cotton with simple lines. "Working girls" wear tailored suits with flaired skirts.
