Post-war Mid-Centruy: 1950's

When most people talk about "retro" this is what they mean. After WWII, designers can use metal again. The 1950's style formica table pictured here is an icon. *The Look: "Ice" formica in a variety of colors like blue, green, red and yellow as well as patterned formica featuring flowers of fruits. Chrome legs and decorated bases are the key identifier to the 50s tables. *Associated Terms: Retro, post-war, Atomic Age. *Associated Names: Howell ChromeSteel Furniture. Since this style was mass produced however, there were many popular manufacturers in this time.
