Well, kind of. Despite the fact that he ultimately lost the 2000 election, and was portrayed as a sore loser during the seemingly endless recounts and legal scandals, pundits now -- instead of referencing his earlier defeat -- seem more inclined to remind us that he earned more of the popular vote than the current (and very unpopular) president.
