And Brigid Catiis fits the bill pretty much perfectly. In her own words, she's "eco-chic."

She also takes a different route to keeping her clothing business sustainable. Unlike many designers who use expensive organic fabrics and non-toxic dyes, she actually makes garments from recycled fabrics. And, since washing clothes uses up so much energy and water, Brigid assures that non of the things she sells will need to be dry-cleaned or washed in hot water. They can all wash cold and hang to dry!

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Complex Magazine Calls Kim Kardashian "Curves With a Cause"

Complex Magazine might be just another old men's magazine, but they're thinking of themselves as a platform to spread the word about issues facing our planet. And they think there's no better way to do so than use Kim Kardashian as the cover girl and call her, "curves with a cause."

She's featured against backdrops of factories spilling pollution into the air and glaciers melting. But, after reading through the article a bit, it seems that even Kim herself is questioning their choice to feature her in their "green issue."
Continue reading Complex Magazine Calls Kim Kardashian "Curves With a Cause"

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Kelly Rutherford Cleans Green

Kelly Rutherford is already a mega-star with the success of the CW show Gossip Girl. She's now going to be even bigger, since she's going to have her own spin-off about her character's life in the 80's. So hopefully she'll use her media influence to continue promoting green-living, since she's been doing so recently.

Kelly sat down and spoke with Celebrity Baby Blog about the importance of using natural cleaning products in the household -- especially when you have young children around.
Continue reading Kelly Rutherford Cleans Green

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Olsen Twins Party at Green Nightclub

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are huge trendsetters within the fashion world, so maybe this will be the start of a green revolution amongst hipster fashionistas! MKO and her boyfriend were spotted recently partying at a green nightclub -- not the first of it's kind -- in NYC, the other night.

The club is aptly named Greenhouse, and the owners are hoping that the trendy eco-movement will have celebs banging down the door to get in.
Continue reading Olsen Twins Party at Green Nightclub

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Christy Robinson Cruelty Free Necklaces

Eco-bling -- have you ever heard of such a thing? Well, be prepared for the next green buzz word to make it big this year. As the green movement continues to spread, consumers are wanting to buy sustainably in every aspect of their lives, and that includes jewelry.

I was so thrilled to stumble across Christy Robinson Designs! She makes some of the cutest eco-bling I have ever seen.
Continue reading Christy Robinson Cruelty Free Necklaces

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Keds Rolls Out Green Label

Keds might sell classic shoes, but that doesn't mean they aren't keeping up with the times. The sneaker company is rolling out a new line called Keds Green Label.

Don't be worried that this is just another major brand trying to green wash us to make a few easy dollars. The kicks are made with 100% organic cotton and dyed with non-toxic inks. The soles are partially made from recycled rubber. The insoles are also made of recycled materials and the shoelaces come from 100% recycled PET. Looks like the company did their green homework!
Continue reading Keds Rolls Out Green Label

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Victoria's Secret Comes Out With Vegan Line!

Victoria's Secret has come out with a new all-vegan line of products! The brand's range, named Pink Body, will be skin and body care, all under the catch phrase, "Think Green, Live Pink."

Ingredients to all products are natural and organic as well. And I have to admit that I'm impressed. They don't seem to be one of those companies who adds the word organic to the label and then charges twice as much. Prices look to be right in line with their typical skin care products.
Continue reading Victoria's Secret Comes Out With Vegan Line!

Permalink | Email this | Comments

EnviroVogue - Eco-Friendly And Charitable

It's taking all my restraint right now not to start squealing like a little girl. EnviroVogue makes reusable bags and totes that are not only eco-friendly, but super cute too!

The company's slogan is "Look good while doing good." And not only that, but she somehow manages to have her kids eat kale. I'm not sure but I think she very well might be Supermom.

She says the trick is that the children help grow their veggies in the garden at the family's solar powered home in Malibu. And for some reason that makes them more prone to munching on the green -- another great reason to give organic gardening a try!
Continue reading Julia Roberts Family Eats From Their Own Garden

Permalink | Email this | Comments

The Perfect (Faux) Leather Jacket

I love the irony in the next statement -- I have just found the most perfect vegan leather jacket ever. Richard Gere has started an NYC based lodge and eatery, but he hopes to go beyond just food. He also wants to save the planet while he's at it.

The inn/bistro won't open until Spring of this year. And we have no details on whether they'll actually be serving organic foods or if the restaurant was built to be sustainable. But, Richard said that he hopes it will end up being a meeting place for environmentalists and A-listers.
Continue reading Richard Gere Saving The Planet With NYC Restaurant

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Perfect Organics

In this day and age you have to be careful with the products you put in and on your body. When you slather on a lotion or a face cream, it is absorbed through the skin, so anything that's in the product is now in you, just as if you had eaten it. That's as good of a reason as any to go organic when it comes to skincare.

But, as an added bonus, organic creams and lotions are often more effective and leave you with healthier looking skin than regular products! Christina filled us on on Barack Obama's plans for using valet bike parking, biodegradable plates and utensils and organic food. However, she was not impressed, reminding us all that this should be a natural progression, rather than something that makes headline news.

However, we still want to share a few more of the ways in which Barack made being green a priority, even on his first day on the job. So I'm actually kind of surprised that it's taken her this long to make the switch! Her wife, Portia de Rossi, recently made the announcement the happy couple is switching over their eating habits to be 100% vegan.

They're both huge animal lovers, but this is a big change. You have to be very careful to make sure your body is still receiving the necessary nutrients it needs. She also says that she can't wash her hair too often because it's dry."
Continue reading Julia Roberts Avoids Showering to Save Water

Permalink | Email this | Comments
