Al Gore: The Funniest Thing on TV
I love Green Week on NBC because it means I'll get to see Alpha Green Al Gore be brilliant and funny!
Mr Greenius reprised his role as himself on "30 Rock", helping Kenneth change light bulbs and then super-hero-ing off to save some whales, making a joke about recycling everything, including jokes. Tee-hee -- admit it, you laughed.
Then he took the deadpan funny up a notch on SNL -- yes, SNL was funny this week! And much of the credit goes to the Nobel prize- and Academy Award-winning former vice president. Big Al killed!
He turned up on the recurring "What Up With That" sketch, where he didn't get to say much and was fake upstaged by a keytar-wielding visitor from a future dimension.
Then he paid a visit to Seth Meyers on "Weekend Update" and offered some hilarious ideas for how to really get the attention of lawmakers -- like planting trees in their yard and taping guns to branches so they think the forests are coming to attack them. That may not sound funny, but check out the video above, you'll see.
Gore's humor chops come as no surprise if you've ever seen him in person. The guy is brilliant, and a compelling and entertaining speaker -- heck, he was even able to hold his own with Jon Stewart on "The Daily Show"!
Maybe the solution to this climate crisis isn't in Copenhagen. Maybe Al needs his own prime-time comedy variety hour on Current TV, where he can use ironic humor to teach eco-lessons and spread the word about alternative fuel sources. I think I sense another Emmy with Big Al's name on it.
