2008 Sexiest Man Alive and Global Ambassador for humanitarian organization World Vision Hugh Jackman will be in attendance to kick off Climate Week NY°C and "speak on behalf of the billion people in developing countries who will be the hardest hit by changing weather patterns, by the droughts and floods that destroy their crops and threaten their food security."
I think seeing Hugh Jackman is reason enough to show up, but for the more strictly climate-issue-minded, there will be a dizzying array of NY°C events from which to choose, including:
- Harrison Ford (Sexiest Man Alive alum, Class of '98) and Team Earth event on the importance of protecting tropical forests
- a panel discussion on carbon neutral media plans
- a roundtable on electric vehicles
- the Global Premier of the film, "The Age of Stupid"
- a demonstration of New York's first solar powered electric vehicle charging station
- the Head of UN Climate Chage Dr. Yvo de Boer, is speaking at the NYC Bar Association
- "Food and Climate Change," a discussion about animal agriculture
- Several religious services
Climate Week NY°C is presented by a partnership that includes The Climate Group, the United Nations, the UN Foundation, the City of New York, the Government of Denmark, Tck Tck Tck Campaign and Carbon Disclosure Project.
