PETA Says Thanks to Sprint and a Big Naked 'No' to Bullfighting

Oh, PETA. I just can't stay away from your sexiness. Of course, you can't stay away from me, either, can you?

This week I received a personal email invitation from the wild-eyed radicals, to attend a scalding tank demonstration. I know -- fun, right?

If you're unfamiliar with the term, it's the terrible method McDonald's uses to kill chickens, and it's about as grisly as it sounds. (Yo McDonald's, just stop and switch to controlled-atmosphere killing, okay?) But more importantly, why would anyone want to attend a demonstration featuring a vat of protesters flailing around in "bloody" water?

So no, I didn't attend. But I did wind up spending some time on the PETA site oogling pictures of naked, faux-blood covered protesters in NYC, Paris, and London. They're protesting the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain on July 7th. The blood is gruesome, but you know, boobs (obvs, NSFW.)

Meanwhile, PETA went and got me back on their side again, by convincing Sprint to stop using great apes in their ads. There's a pre-movie "Sprint says shut off your phone" ad starring a chimp that is not okay. Chimps, orangutans, and gorillas used in entertainment are often taken from their mothers when they are very young, and then cruelly abused by trainers. Sure, we all loved "Any Which Way But Loose," but we can also all deal with sacrificing a little movie humor -- or Hollywood can use CGI -- for the benefit of our very close cousins.

In other words, I totally agree with PETA on no great apes in showbiz topic. And thus my love/hate relationship with PETA continues until the next chapter.
