J.C. Penney Goes Fur Free
Remember how, a couple of years ago, J.C Penney had that little problem with mislabeling fur? Some items that had "raccoon fur" on the tag actually were made with raccoon dog. Now, if you think fur is wrong, then it doesn't matter what kind of animal was skinned. However, in the court of public opinion, "dog fur" is a real sales killer. The incident was a PR nightmare for J.C. Penney.
They've really turned things around since then. According to the Humane Society of the United States, J.C. Penney is now the first "traditional" department store to officially go fur-free. They join Overstock.com and luxury retailer Henri Bendel in their pro-animal, anti-fur stance.
Does this mean that noted anti-fur fashion guru Tim Gunn will now take makeover candidates to J.C.Penney? That would be so cool to see! Mr. Gunn, please consider this an official wishlist request.
