Keds Rolls Out Green Label
Keds might sell classic shoes, but that doesn't mean they aren't keeping up with the times. The sneaker company is rolling out a new line called Keds Green Label.Don't be worried that this is just another major brand trying to green wash us to make a few easy dollars. The kicks are made with 100% organic cotton and dyed with non-toxic inks. The soles are partially made from recycled rubber. The insoles are also made of recycled materials and the shoelaces come from 100% recycled PET. Looks like the company did their green homework!
Plus, for the entire year of 2009, the Arbor Day Foundation will plant a tree for every pair of Keds that are sold to help offset Keds' carbon emissions.
I have only one beef with the initiative -- the green label doesn't yet offer a lot of options. As of right now they're being made in just three colors -- green, white and black.
