The Coen Brothers Take on Clean Coal
The latest salvo in the campaign to call Shenanigans! on the clean coal myth comes from the Coen Brothers as part of the "This is Reality" campaign.
The Academy-award winning duo created a video spoof on those commercials for room fresheners, with a Mom spraying "Clean Coal" air freshener, which "harness the awesome power of the word clean". Of course, the spray puts out a foul fog, turning the air black and choking her husband and kids.
You know, it's sarcasm, because there's no such thing as clean coal. And the word is spreading!
Leslie just did a great post about Dr. James Hansen, head of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies. Dr. Hansen is leading a national day of civil disobedience at the Capitol Power Plant on March 2, 2009. The goal is to get the attention of the government, which in his opinion isn''t acknowledging -- or taking action against -- the role played by fossil fuels in climate change. Especially by coal.
Dirty, filthy, not-at-all-clean in any way, coal.
