The "Clean" Coal Unicorn is Rapidly Losing Strength
I just got my Sierra Club newsletter, and they are crowing over the reversal of fortunes the "clean" coal movement is suffering. Apparently having a president who can read and comprehend science briefing (as opposed to one who got all of his environmental knowledge from 60 year old Davy and Goliath reruns) is putting a kink or two in the "clean" coal development plans.
As soon as the Obama administration took office, new coal plants were put on hold, funding started to get funneled to renewable energy sources, and government support for liquid coal projects is ... drying up.
Bruce Niles, director of the Club's "Move Beyond Coal" campaign, has a very cool Daily Kos blog that chronicles the ups, and now downs, of the coal industry. It's a great way to stay up to speed on the latest in "clean" coal drama.
Oh, sure, Bruce is decidedly biased, but on this topic I'm decidedly biased, so that works just fine for me!
