DIY dressings and dips to avoid preservatives
I cook many things from scratch for a variety of reasons. It's frequently cheaper, I have more control over the ingredients and, I know exactly what is in my food. We like to eat salads at our house and still have been using bottled salad dressings. I'm not an oil and vinegar fan so it seemed like the simplest option. Homemade salad dressings are not that hard to make. They key, is to make the right amount so you won't run out too soon, but the dressing also won't get an off texture from sitting in the fridge too long. I was excited to find a great list of twelve homemade salad dressings, all in one place.
There are a few vinaigrettes here, but most of the dressings are creamy and there are two varieties of ranch dressing, which is always a favorite at our house. The recipes are relatively simple, some with more exotic ingredients and some using what you might already have in the house.
Do you make salad dressings at home? What's your favorite recipe?
