If you have a laptop in need of some covering, Planet Green has put together a
nifty list of some DIY solutions. Don't cheat and go buy new stuff to make these - that wouldn't be very green of you at all.
- Place mats sewn together to house your technology. I could see cloth napkins or an old table cloth too. In fact, I have an old table cloth and my laptop has no cover.
- Cardboard and duct tape for those of you that don't. Depending on what type of cardboard you have it could be very interesting. Adding your own face to a Wheaties box perhaps (ask someone that doesn't eat organic cereal if you can have their box).
- A t-shirt. This has great message potential as well as nifty storage options if the t-shirt has pockets. It would also be a great way to save a t-shirt you love, but isn't so wearable any more.
- A hoodie. Similar to the t-shirt idea but this uses the kangaroo pocket on the front for a nice detail on the laptop case.
- A wetsuit. Makes for a sturdy and mostly waterproof case I would think.
- Tyvek envelope. These are very strong and easy to work with. Of course, I just turn mine inside out and use them to mail more stuff.
It's definitely better than yet another black messenger bag.
