DIY Reusable Menstrual Pads

If you think reusable menstrual pads might be an okay thing and want to try them out, there are tons of patterns on the web that will get you started. Many of them take minimal sewing skills. Make a bunch and try them out. I've used a few and it's really not all that bad. The main thing you need is the ability to rinse the pads out or soak them a bit until they can be washed. And, if you're taking them to the office, tuck a bag or container into your purse to hold the used ones until you get home.
If you're not into using them for yourself (or think they're great and want everyone to have them) check out Goods 4 Girls. The organization is working to bring reusable menstrual supplies to girls in Africa so they can be independent of the disposable pad programs without worrying that they might have to miss school each month.
You can also find plenty of handmade options on Etsy.

They really are more comfortable and not "nasty." Just a tad more work. They are the perfect companion to the Diva Cup.
And unfortunately, Crunchy Chicken just announced she is discontinuing Goods 4 Girls.
