Loofahs Make Sustainable Building Materials
Normally you'd see a loofah hanging in your shower ready to exfoliate those rough elbows and knees but when one person thought outside the box (literally) she helped turn loofahs into a sustainable building material for housing in Paraguay. Not only does it provide inexpensive, flexible and lightweight panels but using loofahs, combined with recycled plastic and other agricultural products, reduces waste and provides income too. In such a heavily deforested part of the world this solution is bringing decent housing to thousands without the environmental worries. It is innovation at its best.
