Orangutan Island Season One - Green Daily Giveaway
We have two copies of the funny, sweet and heart tugging first season of the Animal Planet show Orangutan Island. The show tells the story of 35 orangutans -- the "classmates" -- in Forest School 103 at the Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. These orphans are being taught important survival skills in anticipation of the day when they can someday be released back into the wild...if there is any wild left.
Palm oil is found in practically every item in the supermarket, from ice cream to energy bars to soap, make up and lotions. High yield palm oil plantations are destroying the orangutans' rainforest habitat and create new orphan orangutans every day. The classmates at Nyaru Menteng are just a few of the victims.
Orangutan Outreach, the sponsor of this week's giveaway, is an organization that helps save orangutans by raising awareness and funds for conservation and rescue efforts, including the great work done by the Nyaru Menteng Center.
