Raid the Recycling Bin for Origami Reindeer
The kids are out of school, you have a million things to do in the next two days and life is feeling a little too busy. Take a deep breath. It will all get done and no one will notice if you make three kinds of cookies instead of five. Now, to keep those kiddos busy...If you have paper in your recycling bin (and even cardboard) this craft is for you. Origami Reindeer, perfect for decorating the house, decorating the tree, place cards for Christmas dinner, gifts for Grandma, gift tags and anything else you can come up with.
All you need to get started is a square sheet of paper. Size is unimportant. With a variety of paper you can make reindeer in all sizes and colors. Have the kids cut wrapping paper scraps into squares and see how small they can make the reindeer.
Even better, save some paper from the unwrapping this year for reindeer next year. Try to save some pieces from being completely crumpled up into a ball, cut them into squares (or just fold them up) and place them into a box with the reindeer folding directions. Keep it with all your holiday stuff and next year you'll be all ready for paper folding fun once the holiday vacation begins.
If you need more inspiration, this page has lots of Christmas themed origami and so does this one. Put on some holiday music and put those kids to work!
