Awesome Eco Friendly Xmas Trees From Buro North

It may surprise you to know this, but by most accounts, clear cutting a forest of evergreens at your local Christmas tree farm each year is actually greener than buying an artificial one. Especially if your town mulches all of the Christmas trees in January. But here's an artificial tree that totally breaks the mold.

Büro North, an Australian design company, is selling a flatpack Christmas tree that they say is 80% more eco-friendly than a traditional pine. It's made from environmentally aware ingredients (which I assume means no old-growth plywood), cut with energy-sipping CNC routers, and pack super flat for low carbon shipping.

Offered in 3 sizes, you can use one of these babies year after year and then cram it into a way smaller closet space than other traditional fake trees. It's almost cool enough to keep up year round. OK, maybe not (I can picture you rolling your eyes). Click here to check out the trees' life cycle analysis. They've been such a hit that they're already sold out for 2008.
