Five Ways to Recycle Thrift Shop Finds

Goodwill and thrift shops play an import role in shuffling goods from one home to another.
I've had a lot of luck with children's clothes and even maternity items that I can buy off the rack. However, sometimes items that are outdated or too worn deserve a second look as they can be transformed into useful items one again.
  1. Recycle it. I just found a wonderful tutorial on unraveling yarn from sweaters to be reused in other projects. 100% wool sweaters can be purchased for significantly less than what the yarn would cost you alone. With a little work, you can convert an unfasionable item to raw material to be reborn.
  2. Rethink it. Knowing how to sew can help you significantly when bargain hunting at a thrift shop. You alter sizes are even turn a dress into a shirt. However, little changes like adding buttons or ribbon can update a pair of secondhand jeans.
  3. Dye it. Play around with natural fabric dyes to mute dayglo or hide old stains.
  4. Frame it. Old record albums can be framed and displayed. This may make the perfect gift for someone.
  5. Break it. If dishware or cooking items are so outdated or obsolete that they are laughable -- smash 'em. Use the pieces to make mosaic flowerpots or add color to a walkway.
