Just because you live in a condo or apartment doesn't mean that you can't make your home eco-friendly. There are a lot of things that you don't have control over like the landscaping or possibly what's insulating your walls but there are plenty of ways you can
green up your dwelling.
- Switching out your incandescent bulbs to compact florescents is the first and most obvious tip. Surely there must be one that you have not yet taken care of.
- Secondly, low VOC paint should be used when making your mark on the walls.
- If you suffer from a drafty apartment, use throw rugs, curtains and draft stoppers by your doors and windows. Use rolled up towels to insulate or sew your own door snake.
- If you need to buy appliances, go with the Energy Star. These appliances are energy efficient and will not only get your points with Mother Earth but they'll save you money as well.
- If you are looking at a kitchen makeover, choose cabinets certified by the Forest Stewardship Council or ones made of recycled materials.
