Save the polar bears with lifejackets

It's a fact that the polar bears are in serious trouble because the ice caps where they live are melting, which means not only do they have less and less land on which to live but they are finding that they need to swim longer and longer distances in order to find food. How sad to become exhausted and drown before finding somewhere to rest!
ADDI has come up with the concept of polar bear lifejackets to help bring this issue to light and to encourage people to put their focus, and their funds, towards stopping global warming. It might be a totally unrealistic idea but the photo above certainly makes an impact.

The ONLY reason that photos like this have any impact is because most people don't know squat about polar bears.
They can swim for up to nearly 40 km without coming up for a breath! They can swim at a speeds of 4-6 mph and paddle non-stop for 100 MILES! They have been spotted swimming SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES miles from the nearest ice or land. While swimming, they keep their eyes open, their nostrils shut and their ears flattened to their heads. Polar bears can stay under up to 2 minutes. They are also capable of leaping out of the water 7'-8' feet from a swimming start. They have been seen catching seals that way for thousands of years.
Keep this in mind next time you get all teary eyed over a Hollywood video showing a polar bear and her cub slippling into the icy water looking like they need a Garmin to find the nearest Greenpeace Shelter.
