Tip of the Day - Phones, phones, phones
When picking a phone for your home, you'll want to consider buying one with a cord. That's right. The old-fashioned kind that plugs right into the wall and tethers you to the phone with that long, windy cord. Corded phones consume little energy, but cordless units require constant power, when charging and even when just standing by, according to The Green Book.
When it comes to cell phones versus landlines, the advice is similarly old-fashioned: Go for the landline, according to Umbra at Grist. Cell phones also consume power during charging, use and yes, even standby. Traditional land lines pull very small amounts of power compared to cell and cordless phones.
Added bonus of a corded landline: It will work even if the power goes down and the battery will never run out in the middle of a call!
