McDonald's helps Oregon vote

In Oregon mail-in ballots are the rule. You can, if you want, stand in line. But ballot mailboxes are everywhere. In 1998 voters decided to approve the measure to increase voter participation and awareness. In a state known for its natural beauty and progressive ways the concept makes sense. But the people at Oregon Public Broadcasting noticed something even more unique to the state: Voting at McDonald's.

I know this is only vaguely related to green news. But I couldn't help but feel my heart warm to the idea of voter drive-thrus. How might they be applied for environmental issues? Could you cap and trade at the gas station? Could you drop off batteries at any Radio Shack instead of hauling yourself down to the recycling center only open Monday through Saturday 10am until 4pm? Could you charge your vehicle while you grab some groceries?
