Stick Figures into Play

When it comes to all-natural, recyclable toys that are safe for your kids, the National Toy Hall of Fame has recognized one toy that kids and dogs both appreciate: the stick.

Reasons this toy have been recognized (sticking points, if you will) include:

you don't have to buy it
it encourages creative play (the stick can be a horse, a sword, a writing utensil, or a piece for tug-of-war)
not just for humans (also appealing to dogs, chimps, and others)
speaking of its wide appeal, the stick has been used by humans longer than just about anything else, whether for play or to carry fire
if you get enough you can play pick-up-sticks
if you carry a big one you don't have to yell

The stick was added to the Strong National Museum of Play on Thursday.
