Should you be a locasexual?

Slate has an interesting article about the case for giving up your long distance relationships and dating local. After all, if you're going to calculate the carbon footprint of your arugula, then flying cross-country twice a month is sort of hypocritical. Yes, even if you buy carbon offsets.

The article lists several reasons, in addition to reducing your CO2 emissions, why you should date with 100 "sex miles" of your home. These benefits include becoming more social and civic minded in your community, having sex more frequently because you're actually with your partner more often and all the money you'll save on travel expenses.

You know, this all makes sense, and if love was ruled by the brain I would predict the Locasexual Movement to be the next big thing. But given the vagaries of the heart, and the increasing globalization of the world, if anything we'll probably see more long distance relationships.

What do you think?

Are you willing to reduce your "sex miles" for the planet?
