If the financial crisis, war in the Middle East, or High School Music 3 doesn't have you crying your eyes out, you're in luck. A Lisbon-based organization has come out with the above ad that takes anthropomorphism to seriously depressing levels.

The organization behind the ad, Quercus, is a non-profit that mostly focuses on raising awareness of Portuguese environmental problems and campaigns against nuclear power.

Here, they use beautifully animated scenes of three animals that decide to dramatically end it, followed by the tag lines "If you give up, they give up" and "Stop Global Warming". The spot was posted last month on Quercus TV, a video web site that Quercus uses to showcase environmental issues.

I'm relatively jaded, so even the most depressing things can get funnier after repeated viewings. Six views later (I've asked previously happy co-workers to come by and watch), it's still pretty day-destroying. If you cry at insurance commercials, don't watch this. And so your weekend is not totally destroyed, you can also watch this.
