New clip features James Bond in a fuel efficient Ford Ka
It appears that Daniel Craig's James Bond might be a slight departure from the cynical and showy gun-for-hire Bond that Pierce Brosnan cultivated in the 90's. In Casino Royale, Craig makes his first driving appearance in a very middle class Ford Mondeo. In the latest installment of the Bond series, it appears that he might be developing a concern for his carbon emissions. This clip shows him and co-star Olga Kurylenko making their escape in a fuel-sipping Ford Ka.
Not only does Bond drive a 45mpg Ford in his latest flick, he apparently battles a greenwashing villain. Sweet. Now, I'm fairly confident that Bond will ditch the Ka as soon as he can get his hands on a gas guzzling sports car -- because that's what James Bond does. Still, driving a sub-compact and fighting a villain who's trying to use conservation as a pretense for dominating the water supply in South America is certainly casts the new Bond a man of the people.
Daniel Craig's James Bond definitely appeals to today's socially and environmentally-conscious modus operandi. Do you think this is a good direction for Bond? Or by adopting ethics, is Bond moving away from the unpredictable maverick image that makes him so interesting?
AutoBlogGreen recently reported that the Ford Ka might actually be marketed in the US.
