Texas teenager builds electric car for $10,000
While some people clamor for the Chevy Volt and others drive odd looking old or homemade varieties, a Texas teenager proves it's not that hard (or expensive) to build your own. With a used Bradley GT II kit car purchased on eBay and about $5,000 worth of electric parts and batteries Luke Laborde was able to build himself an electric car over the summer. The project was bankrolled by his father, who also gave the teen access to his shop full of tools.
Finding places in the small car for the batteries and putting everything together was left entirely up to Laborde. If he can do it, why can't the rest of us? Or why aren't we at least trying?
