Payless will offer line of eco-friendly shoes next year
Tired of reading about really cool green products and fashion items that you just can't afford? Payless Shoes is hoping to change that for you. The discount shoe chain is working with model and environmentalist Summer Rayne Oakes on a new line of eco-friendly footwear. The shoes will be made from natural fibers like organic cotton, linen and hemp, feature recycled outsoles and be housed in eco-smart packaging. Average prices should be $30 or less and the line will start with women's shoes with childrens and mens lines to follow.
The shoes will be avialbe in stores and on the Payless website early next year. Oakes, who is the Planet Green channel fashion and beauty expert will work with the company on material choices and asthetics of the shoes as well as packaging and marketing details.
I applaud Payless for wanting to go green, but at a $30 or less price point I wonder what conditions those shoes will be manufactured in. I guess we can't have it all for a low price. I will look forward to learning more as the shoes become available - and of course, I'll pass it along to you.
