I know, I know, it's the last things kids need, in light of the obesity epidemic and the environmental crisis and all of that. Wouldn't it be better if we gave out something more useful like pencils and paper or at least granola bars?
We don't have to totally kill Halloween to make it more eco-friendly! Here are a few tips:

- Avoid candy wrapped in plastic if all of that plastic bothers you. There are still lots of candies wrapped in wax paper like Tootsie Rolls, gum and taffy.
- Try some organic candy like Yummy Earth Organic Lollipops.
- Also, consider organic chocolate. Even if the kids don't appreciate it, I bet their parents will.
- Perhaps some Fair Trade Trick-or-Treating Action Kits would do the trick!
