iYo: Make your iPhone energy independent with a yo-yo?
Over the past year, we've seen all kinds of renewable energy chargers: pocket-sized fuel cells, solar backpacks, portable wind chargers, etc. -- but they all seem to be lacking a little something. Instead of passively watching as a solar panel collects energy, what if you could harness the power of fun to charge your iPhone? That's the idea that led designer Peter Thuvander to create this awesome iYo yo-yo induction charger.
Break free from your iPhone's dependence on the wall outlet while you rock the cradle, walk the dog, or go around the world. You need only to show off the yo-yo skillz you picked up in the 4th grade to build up a charge in the iYo's tiny lithium-ion battery. Then pop off the Apple logo (I wonder if apple will grant the licensing?) and plug in your iPhone/iPod.
Unfortunately, the iYo seems to be in the concept stages at this point. Any investors wanna float Peter some venture capital? I really want one of these for Christmas. Bad timing?
