People cutting back on organics, buying more flat screen TVs
As food prices rise, nearly half of U.S. adults are reporting that their diets are becoming less healthy, due to buying less organic products and spending less on health and wellness overall, according to Faith Popcorn's Brain Reserve report, as reported in Marketing Daily. The survey took place back in the summer, and reported that Americans are cutting back on everything from food and beverages, to eating out and day care. Ninety percent of women and 79% of men report buying less stuff, with 90% reporting they are
"considering opting for a simpler life."
However, in an odd twist, consumer electronics, including flat-screen TVs and video games, seems to be one category that is benefiting as consumers are staying home to save money.
In addition, most of the respondents thought that the government will cut back on food, water, energy and pollution policies and regulations, in essence giving corporations a "free pass" for some cost cutting.
What do you think? Do you think a tightening of wallets means that our health has to suffer?
