The past few years we've tried to stick with costumes using recycled items, or things from my kids' dressers. This year they are going as the Beatles with some other kids. The plan is to have 4 girls dress as the Beatles, YEAH YEAH YEAH! And 3-4 boys dress up as screaming girls (aka adoring fans). hehe

I can't believe Americans spend almost $65 per costume, I don't think I've ever spend a third that much!

If you're worried about spending way too much money, there are some cost-effective ways to spend your Halloween at home (after trick-or-treating, of course). If you're up for something fun and festive and kind of scary, rent or pick up the Nightmare Before Christmas and watch it with the kids. Afterwords, if you're up to it, read Halloween poetry to one another.
