Icon Paul Newman Dies at 83
This morning brings the sad news that film legend and philanthropist Paul Newman has died at the age of 83 following several months of rumors about his failing health.
Best known for his films, Mr. Newman was also a generous supporter of charitable causes, including Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang camp that benefits seriously ill children. Through Newman's Own, the company he created to distribute and market his pasta sauce and salad dressing, he gave away more than $200 million. He was also a strong supporter for environmental issues, and raising awareness about climate change.
In honor of Mr. Newman, tonight my friends and I will toast him over pasta and salad, and remember some of the generous works of this great gentleman.
