They say it's better to burn out, than to fade away -- but there is a third option: go green. Singer Bette Midler recently
announced that she's decided to quit touring the world with her small army of gas-hogging trucks, but it's not because she realized that
her music sucks. Actually, it's for the environment. Midler says she wants to green her operation and stop sending so much CO2 into the atmosphere.
According to her:
"Over the years, the number of trucks that I have behind me has grown exponentially and I don't really like that, I don't like wasting the gas,"
But, Bette's not exactly retiring. Instead she's setting up shop in Las Vegas, where thousands of people will come from far and wide to hear her sing

greenwashing her tour resignation a little bit? Yeah, probably. If she was hanging it up for good, or taking a pay cut, it might seem a little more sincere. Instead, she'll probably be making tons more cash for much easier work.
Still, taking her extensive road crew with help to shrink Bette's overall ecological footprint,
