FDA finds lead in vitamins
The FDA has just tested a whole slew of vitamins for lead content and found that almost all contain trace amounts of lead. Out of 324 vitamin products tested, only four did not contain lead. The FDA does not consider any of these vitamins unsafe however, based on lead content.
- Nature's Plus Animal Parade Shake
- Superior Multi Age
- Nutraceutical Pedia Power
- Physio Kids Multilogics Chewable
- Ola Loa Kids
- Nature's Plus Animal Parade
- Vita-Big-Kids
- Wonder Laboratories Formula Nineteen
- Clinicians Choice Chewable Daily Multivitamin
- Dynamic Health Multi for Children
See the complete list of vitamins here, including vitamins in the greatest and least exposure categories, for both children and those over the age of 6.

Here is the issue I have with this article. Lead is naturally occuring in soil. so if you have any phyto nutrients worth a darn then you will have lead as it is taken up by the plants when they grow. for my kids vitamin by natures plus, 0.6 ug/kg is extremely low, 600 parts per trillion. Be very careful because they are trying to demonize and regulate vitamins and take everything good and nutritous out of them in the name of "safety" and probably only license big pharma to produce them. Look at how they are microwaving out spinach now instead of having the farmers do their job and I won't get into what countries we buy from. lets test carrots, even organic carrots or other vegitables probably have more lead than these vitamins.

While lead is naturally occurring, most of its presence in our
environment is due to human activities - not because it is naturally
occurring. It is deposited around the world from its use as an
additive in gasoline, and weathering of lead painted strucutres, and
exhaust from various industrial operations. Approximately 4 to 5
million metrics tons of lead is present in soils and dust from being
used as a gasoline additive. Today, it is estimated that 400,000 to
600,000 tons of lead are released every year to the environment from
various industrial operations.
And, while the FDA's daily safe intake for children under 6 is 6 ug
lead per day, the Proposition 65 maximum allowable level is 0.5
ug/day, which means that the highest children's vitamin is 5 times
the Proposition 65 safe level.
Lead can be readily screened out of children's vitamins.

Here are the highlights of what everyone needs to know.
1. Every product tested by the FDA is SAFE. What they didn't make clear is that the amount of lead in the vitamin industry is less than that of the food industry. We get more lead daily by eating, drinking and breathing.
2. Minerals come from the ground....they are in fact DIRT. The amount of lead is so small, especially in our case that it is impossible to completely remove it without removing the other minerals.
3. Our product has a guide 1-2 per day. The FDA calculated total based on 2 packets. In other words we're actually 1/2 the total amount they listed.
4. No other children's formula offers as much nutrient support as Ola Loa. In fact many of these products would require you to take more than 10 doses or more to equal Ola Loa. In reality per dose Ola Loa has far less lead than the others.
5. Lastly, most are lost when it comes to measurement and how small these amounts are. In our case 1 packets has less than 1 mcg of lead per packet. A microgram is 1 millionth of a gram, put another way. Take a 1gram vitamin C pill, break it into 1,000,000 pieces. Take one of those pieces and remove 65% of it, that's how small this is...in other words...YOU CAN"T SEE IT.
6. Don't be fooled. You eat lead EVERY DAY.
