LUSH employees 'go naked' to fight wasteful packaging
How do you take a boring campaign about wasteful packaging and make it sexy and intriguing? Add naked people. Taking a page out of PETA's naked publicity stunt handbook, LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics is encouraging employees in 24 US cities to show up to work wearing nothing but their aprons in order to draw attention to their innovative "Go Naked" packaging concept. August 27th is the big day.
While they're certainly not the first to exploit nudity to attract attention, or raise the issue of excess packaging, LUSH is definitely going the extra mile to drive the point home. These scantily clad beauties will be getting the word out that 2% of our greenhouse emissions come from packaging alone.
Instead of focusing on liquid soaps and lotions, LUSH has formulated their business around bars, bath balls or cakes that can be sold without any form of packaging. In fact about 58% of their products are "package-free." Nice.
Dawning your birthday suit can certainly be considered an eco-friendly way to advertise, but it's hard to say exactly how effective it is in terms of sales. I hope LUSH employees get some serious bonus pay for their efforts -- plus tips.
Can you guess which celebs got naked for the planet?

I liked the store from the first time I visited one in Toronto... Then I actually read the ingredients that go into the soaps (this time in Japan). I believe that "fragrance" was listed, as well as other chemicals that I personally have sworn off. Lye and oil is all you need to make a good safe soap. Just remember the rubber gloves, for those of you who haven't seen Fight Club!
