Solve your worries: Buy a goat

I've wanted a goat for a few years now -- mostly for the lawn care but also because I've always liked petting zoos. Fortunately, my husband won't let me get a goat as it would be impractical. However, there are some serious benefits to adding a goat or two to your homestead. With more people keeping chickens, I don't see why goats won't be the next big thing especially because they are generally friendlier and don't crow at daybreak.

Reasons to get a goat:
  • Goats will clear your yard of twigs, brambles, and even clip your grass.
  • A nanny goat can produce up to 5 liters of milk a day for ten months.
  • Goat milk can be used to make cheese, butter and ice cream -- or just drink it straight.
  • Goat milk is more easily digested than cow's milk.
  • They are smaller than cows and easier to house.
  • Check your city ordinances, you might be surprised to find that you can legally keep one in your backyard.
  • Goats can be butchered for meat and their hides sold for clothing.
  • Offspring can be sold to area farms.
  • Tax write-offs unlike Fido.
  • Manure is great for compost.
In order to procure a goat, you'll have to find a reputable dealer. I was amused by thinking about some other possibilities however when I came across this site.
