This or That: Paper books or eBooks?

The question of whether reading via traditional paper-bound books or eBooks is greener hits pretty close to home because I love to get into a good story. I love technology but reading is one of the few things that I prefer to do the old-fashioned way, and since I use the library (what I consider the equivalent of paper book recycling) I haven't felt too bad about it.
The argument can go both ways, though, because eBooks don't kill trees like paper books do, and they're lighter to transport, but they also use energy for every single use, wear out/become obsolete faster, and their recyclability is questionable. So according to this article in the LA Times until we have more hard and fast data the paper vs ebook debate seems to be more about personal habits than it does black and white carbon-footprint comparisons.
So just go with your gut on this one people.
