Madonna by the numbers - NOT green
Well, since Madonna is already the Queen of Pop, I guess she doesn't care much about being the Queen of Green. In addition to her upcoming Sticky and Sweet tour, her publicist has released a list of what this world tour consists of.You'll be amazed at the sheer amount of makeup sponges and Q-tips -- and if you're anything like me, you'll wonder why that information was made public. Keep reading to see the whole list.
Sure, there are a few positives we can take out of this -- like the fact that all her fishnet tights were bought second hand. But, still -- the sheer amount of energy that it will take to power a tour like this is overwhelming. Let's hope Madge bought carbon offsets!

Sad article - this is really a stretch. Are you going to cover the scandal of the Olympics too? 2 swimsuits, 1 goggles, 1 pair of flip flops, 1 swim cap, 1 warmup suit, 8 pairs of underwear, 1 ipod, 1 coach, 1 trainer, 2 parents...OMG!!!! THE HUMANITY OF IT ALL!!!
Fail.

This article reminds me about how we take this green thing too far sometimes. Its a concert for freak's sake! What about the spectacle of the opening ceremonies of the Olympics? 2008 drummers, costumes, etc. What are we supposed to do? Live in a box in the woods, living off the land like Little House on the freakin' Prairie in the 21st Century? I'm all for going full-on green, but there needs to be a limit, peeps.

If Obama and his marxist pals have anything at all to say about it, then that's EXACTLY how we would end up living...while they sit back and reap the profits.

The thing is, with the resources at Madonna's disposal, she could make an effort to make a huge impact with less waste. Look at what Jack Johnson has done -- true, his shows aren't exactly comparable to Madonna's, but there are plenty of ways she could green her concert while still putting on a show. What's sad is that she doesn't.

This seems to be approaching the problem from the wrong end. You are asking people whose business is to entertain to worry about something nobody they care about is worried about.
Show business reflects our attitudes. If more people cared to a larger degree, show business would reflect it automatically. They would not dare to display habits that are considered despicable by a majority. Bad for business to do what is unpopular. Until people are not willing to not participate in such monster events and drive hundreds of miles to get there, we will not see change.
Pretty dumb list though. A lot of it has little to do with environmental issues. Why is it presented here? Where are numbers (or at least estimates) for energy consumption of the concert or numbers or gallons of gas burned for people to get there? And, I say, 180 Q-Tips used for entire tour ain't bad.
Desperate journalism at work?

What I think that I love the most about this story is the irony that it shows. Hollywood and others in power, by and large, seem to want to totally support the green, leftist, democratic, propoganda filled lifestyle to everyone. They want to preach to the masses about how much they (middle class Americans) waste or talk about your "carbon footprint". Yet, at the same time, they are some of the biggest abusers of anyone...unless of course that limo and private jet are hybrids (doubt that). However, when it's time to look at THEM and THEIR habits, then somehow that's going too far. hmmmmmmm
