Baby whale update, not looking good

That poor little whale that was separated from its mother and trying to nurse a yacht off the shore of Sydney has disappeared.

The calf, who the locals have named Colin, was starving and having medical issue due to shark bites. Officials attempted to bring the whale into deeper waters but Colin preferred the company of the boats and would not cooperate.

It was announced that Colin would be euthanized. The decision did not sit well with many, including a whale whisperer, Bunna Lawrie, that spoke to Colin with little result.

Said New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma, "Our hearts are breaking with what's happening with baby Colin. It's looking bleak, but every effort is being made."

Today, the day that he was to be euthanized, Colin is missing. It is unknown as to whether he succumbed to his injuries or starvation, or if he ventured out to sea.

We're hoping for the sea.
