Travel like a hamster
Why not? A few people in Berlin are doing it via this invention by Anke Salomon. It's called The Public Bike system and he designed it to help tourists get around the city and see the sights. It's powered by pedals that move the two wheels and there are handles that work the brakes, and there's even a small luggage compartment somewhere (it must be really minuscule) so you don't have to leave anything behind.
Why just for tourists though? This looks like a fun contraption to drive -- how about commuting to work in this baby on a nice day?

I guess this is another typical Styling School Gimmick.
Can't wait to see someone going downhill and having to hit the brakes.
This looks like a styling study that is neither practical, nor mechanically smart (as in functional, efficient, and simple at the same time). And it is actually not really new. Check http://www.cafepress.com/popsci.32079164 to see a old fantasy-version for two people. Although this one seems to be engine powered. More realistic if you ask me; there is too much friction in such a device to reasonably use human power.
This is Earth, not Futurama. We have problems that have technical solutions right now (e.g. the bicycle). Problem is people are not using them. Stop playing around or promoting toys that don't work as well as what we already have. It is not about the looks or coolness factor. Grow up!

My usual way of traveling to other places was using my car or motorcycle. I could never imagine traveling to far places using only bike as my means of transportation. I would like to know how does it feels to travel using a bike. Can you send me more information at my email address?
