Baby whale misses mommy- Video

A baby whale, estimated to be a month old, was separated from its mother and tried to nurse on the underbelly of a 36-foot long yacht.

The poor calf was finally lured into open waters off of Sydney, Australia where those involved are hoping it will continue to search for its mother.

From Australia's ABC News:

The NSW Environment Department says rescuers have towed the yacht to sea and managed to get the calf to detach from the boat.

But the calf appears exhausted and rescuers are now hoping the whale will continue out to sea and search for its mother.

Members of the Organisation[sic] for Rescue and Research of Cetaceans are monitoring the situation.

You know, I had big plans for doing a whole 'Fail Whale' Twitter thing with this story, but that little whale is just too cute and its situation too sad to be compared to the international mascot of failure. I'll get you next time Twitter!
