Sex toys must be recycled!

Imagine this post-apocalyptic scene: under haze of poisonous green pollution clouds, scavengers scramble over a trash heap, desperately searching for food or other useful items.

They dig and dig, tossing aside one penis-shaped silicon object after another, and a giant pile of unrecycled vibrators, dildos and butt plugs grows. It is second only to the looming stacks of water bottles that can at least be tied together and used as rafts to escape the rising waters from the melting ice caps.

A lone figure gazes at the flesh-like pile and shakes a fist, yelling, "If only more people recycled their sex toys!"

There is still time to avoid this scenario, and it doesn't mean you have to put your worn out Mr. Piledriver in the blue recycling bin where all of your neighbors can see it. Keep your Magic Wand out of the landfill by going online and using the US postal system, the same way you bought it. As an added incentive, you'll even get a break on the replacement purchase.

You can mail your worn out or broken "instruments" to Sex Toy Recycling in a Tyvek pouch, which you can pick up at a sex toy retailer, or request from Sex Toy Recycling. They will either repair and refurbish your toy, or recycle the elements into a new, 95% post-consumer content toy. Plus you get a $5 coupon, good for the purchase of your next pleasure stick.

In the UK, sex toy superstore Love Honey has declared a Rabbit Amnesty. If you have an "over-loved" rabbit vibrator, you can mail it in and they will send out your choice of two replacement models at half price.

It's good that someone is making this kind of recycling easier, but we could definitely use some more choices, right? I see this as a growth area for the recycling industry. Business schools, take note!
