Paper gone bananas!
Sure, recycled paper is great. We're all for it and we're very pleased to see that it has become so prominent in back to school offerings. However, we're really going ape over the the plethora of tree-free paper that is becoming available. One of the more popular tree-free products is banana paper. Don't worry, no actual bananas were hurt in the making of the notebooks. The process consists of using "the discarded stalks of banana trees (or pinzotes), which would otherwise have gone to waste" (EcoPaper) and using them to create paper. Yes, we have bananas today.
There are other forms of tree-free paper available as well, among them coffee, cigar, mango and lemon papers. We're not sure of all the intangibles that are involved in the creation of each, but we're just going to go with post consumer magic.
It's paper that doesn't kill trees, that sounds pretty magical to us. Get some for your back to schooler!
