Global GMO protests are on the rise
Since the UK has led the anti-GMO movement, many other countries around the world have followed suit. Some 200 South Koreans protested GM crops in May, and 300 Brazilian activists attacked a farm owned by mega agri-giant Monsanto in March. Yet, despite this opposition, GM crops are on the rise. Farmers planted 282.4 million acres of biotech crops worldwide last year, which is 12 percent higher than the year before.
