OK, I look at this like I look at someone getting rid of their SUV for a hybrid... You have one car already, you have already paid money for them to build this car that will, with good care, last the rest of your life. It was built with lots of metal, plastic, etc. i.e. it had a pretty big impact on the enviroment. So, you sell it/trade it and you get a hybrid that was built in the same way, filled with lead acid batteries and all that good stuff. Your old car didn't go away, it is still out there, it is something you had, but instead of just keeping it, you spent all that money on a second car to save a few gallons of fuel when, in the long run, just driving less and driving in a more efficient manner would have been much less harmful than getting an entirely new car (and cheaper for you too, which is my main concern).

So, if you want to skip the ramblings above, it comes down to the fact that we/they don't really need a new hotel, green or not. They have plenty of real estate already. Now, that being said, if they are going to build one anyway, building it in a "green" manner is a good idea, but I think they could suffice with what they have already and hold off on expanding.
