Al Gore, sexy greenius, issues a challenge to save the world

I adore Al Gore. Had I any inkling that he'd be at Netroots Nation, I would have totally picked Austin over the San Francisco BlogHer Conference in a hot second. (Sorry, ladies.)
This Atari democrat and Nobel Peace Prize Winner is a huge inspiration. Some people call Big Al stiff and overly formal, but they've obviously never seen him speak. When he gets on a roll, he floods the room with his passion and brilliance. Plus the cowboy boots? Too cute. And remember when he laid one on Tipper at the 2000 DNC? I like to think of it as his Rhett Butler moment.
During his surprise appearance at Netroots Nation, Al talked about the work he's doing with the Alliance for Climate Protection and reiterated his dramatic challenge for the U.S. "to commit to producing 100% of our electricity from renewable energy and truly clean carbon-free sources within 10 years."
That's a tall order, but when you listen to him explain why it's necessary and how it's possible, you have to agree it makes sense. By doing this we can:
- save the planet (that should be enough right there)
- create jobs and stimulate the economy
- disentangle ourselves from those crazy middle east politics
Want to learn more, or even better find out how you can help? Go join wecansolveit.org. More than 1 million people have already signed up, and the number is growing. The site has solutions, actions and results. Plus they have Al, and you can tell that this time he's determined to win.

Aside from his huge carbon footprint, since that is the newest trendy thing to be concerned about, from his homes, I would be willing to be that in a single year of his life while traveling to promote this or that, he has a bigger footprint than most people have had in their past 10 years.

More and more scientists are jumping off the Gorebal Warming bandwagon as they come to terms with the facts. Here's a wonderfully written article by an Austrailian scientist who was a believer: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,24036736-7583,00.html
He explains why it's so easy for scientists to go along with the AGW crowd (money, influence, a feeling of importance), but when the facts are examined, they fall dangerously short.
Now, I'm all for conservation. Recycling makes sense, and so does reducing the amount of consumer goods that buy/use. I have faith that if the market is left to do its thing, we will have usuable solutions in the future. Alternative energy is smart, but give me a nuclear plant rather than a solar panel (I heard that it would take 50,000 square miles of panels to electrify this country. New York state is 50,000 square miles. You see how this is problematic, right?)
However, I think we need to collectivey move beyond Gore-worship here and realize that he is being deceitful and greedy here. His only true interest is in his indulgences trade... and he seeks power over us by trying to force goverment regulations down our throats (that would control everything about how we live). He, among others, is what some of us refer to as 'watermelons.' Green on the outside, red on the inside.
I like this blog, because I do have an interest in being environmentally conscious. I have also learned to expect a certain amount of subjectivity here, a non-too-subtle bias for the political Left, a dismissal of most conservatives and Republicans (not the same thing always). This abject idolazation of Gore, though, leaves you looking a little kooky. He is not our saviour, his is simply a man. All your misplaced fawning does is leave your other reporting to be suspect, but I do appreciate that you're open in your refusal to be objective at all. That would be fine and dandy of this were your private blog, but this is a public blog. A return to a more factual point of view would be most delightful.

His Hipocriteness, "Eco-Pope Al Bore-me-us Maximus I", needs to get a grip on his own actions before he can preach to the rest of the world and point his finger...
Give it up, Gore... your 15 minutes are over. Get off the stage.
And excuse me? "Sexy Greenius"? Uh... yeah, ok. *puke*

GIVE ME TONS OF MONEY AND ILL PLANT SOME TREES WHICH WILL OFFSET YOUR CARBON.
Screw Al Gore, People who care about the enviroment gave him 100 million last year in his carbon credit scam.
Donate money to The Arbor Day Foundation
