Colbert gets his talons on the Sierra Club
Colbert asks Pope personal questions such as whether he has actually hugged a tree or gone all the way with one. He also tries to pin down Pope's feelings about the presidents green policies -- or lack there of. Finally he takes a dig at Pope's use of carbon miles to fly everywhere. I'll keep my mouth shut about the funniest points so as not to ruin the video. Enjoy!
The Sierra Club was founded in 1892 by John Muir. Their mission is to "protect the wild places on earth." They have a number of lobbyists on the payroll in D.C. as well as other key locations. Sierra headquarters are in San Francisco. Carl Pope has been executive director since 1992.

What a great video that was! I had trouble viewing it here, so I watched it on YouTube. WOW, how did Carl Pope keep from laughing hysterically? I might have held it together... until the polar bear. Bravo. I'm glad Mr. Pope kept his focus. He is a remarkable man. I love the way he stated very plainly, "Nobody who is human and lives in an industrial society doesn't leave a footprint on the earth. But you can decide if your footprint is going to be a small manageable one or a big gross one."
Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
