Gas up your SUV -- it's better for the earth than a steak
This morning Bruce gave us the low down on methane producing cows and it's impact on Argentina's air quality. A Japanese study done last year showed that it wasn't just the methane gas that was a problem for the environment but also the energy consumption. In fact, driving your car aimlessly for three hours consumes less energy and is responsible for fewer greenhouse gas emissions than producing 2.2 pounds of beef.Four average sized steaks require 35 kilowatt hours of energy. Two-thirds of the energy consumed is due to the production and transportation of the beef. This is enough to light a 100 watt light bulb for 20 days.
The total amount of carbon dioxide released into the environment over a measly 2.2 pounds of meaty goodness is equal to getting in a car and driving at 50 m.p.h. for 155 miles.
So, the next time you and three of your buddies are thinking of steak for dinner, go for a road trip instead -- or just eat a (locally grown) salad.

Only one solution for that... Time to start eating more beef. If we can all triple or quadruple (or, for those that don't eat it, time to start, since 3 or 4 times 0 is still 0) our intake, we could simply eat all the cattle in the world before they have a chance to raise more. Yum.

Just so I'm clear on this. Eating beef is bad, eating veggies is good. Right?
How much does it cost to get the veggies to the table?
It's not the beef or the veggies, it's the 6 plus billion people on this planet that are corking it up.

How much energy does it cost to get the veggies to the table. My guess is about the same.
Now you want to talk about gas. how about good old beans or cabbage. I bet those are causing a lot of problems with gases.
It's not he beef or the veggies. It's the 6 plus billion people here that are mucking it up. And every one of us is expecting someone else to do the clean up for us.
Everyone just clean up after you and one other person and there you are.
I have just solved the world's problems.
You don't have to thank me.
